First-Round Leader Chianello Ties for Sixth at Oregon Duck Invitational
JUNCTION CITY, Ore. --- Portland freshman Nick Chianello, who was tied for first place after the opening round, finished tied for sixth overall to lead the Pilots at the Oregon Duck Invitational, which concluded on Tuesday at Shadow Hills Country Club. It’s the first career top-10 showing for Chianello, who has finished in the top 20 in three of UP’s four tournaments this spring.

Four Pilots Place in the Top 20 at the Triumph at Pauma Valley

PAUMA VALLEY, Calif. --- Portland junior Justin Smithhisler finished seventh overall to lead four Pilots in the top 20 at the USF Triumph at Pauma Valley, which wrapped up on Tuesday at Pauma Valley Country Club. Freshman Nick Chianello tied for 18th and senior Terence Macatangay and junior Jake Wagner tied for 20th for the Pilots, who finished fourth as a team at the 12-team, three-round tourney.

Pilots Defeat CECC at 2010 Rainmaker Cup
NORTH PLAINS, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots defeated a select group of elite golfers from Columbia Edgewater Country Club 8-7 at the 2010 Rainmaker Cup, which took place at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club on March 6-7. The Rainmaker Cup is annual exhibition golf competition played between the UP men’s golf team and the CECC.

Smithhisler Cards Second Top-20 Finish of the Spring
BEAUMONT, Calif. --- Portland junior Justin Smithhisler tied for 18th individually to pace the Pilots at the Braveheart Classic, which concluded on Tuesday at the Oak Valley Golf Club. It’s the second top-20 during the spring slate for Smithhisler, who finished 11th at the Snowman Getaway in February.

Pilots Open the Spring Slate with a Fifth-Place Showing at the Snowman Getaway
CHANDLER, Ariz. --- Junior Justin Smithhisler finished 11th overall and Portland placed fifth as a team as the Pilots opened the men’s golf spring schedule at the WSU Snowman Getaway, which concluded on Tuesday at the Cattail Course of the Whirlwind Golf Club. Freshman Nick Chianello also had a top-15 showing for Portland, coming in a tie for 13th.

Foote, Snoey Commit to UP Men’s Golf
PORTLAND, Ore. --- Jarrett Foote (Woodinville, Wash./Woodinville HS) and Daniel Snoey (Camas, Wash./Camas HS) have committed to the University of Portland men’s golf program, announced head coach Bill Winter. Both Foote and Snoey have signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Pilots as freshmen next fall.
