PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots women’s tennis team closed out their home schedule on a high note with a 6-1 win against the Weber State Wildcats on Friday. Senior Megan Sporndli and junior Stefanie Doolittle posted wins in their last match as Pilots in the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center.
With the result, Portland improves to 5-11 overall, snapping a six-match losing streak.
The Pilots swept the doubles competition and kept the momentum going to come out strong in singles, winning five of six matches, all in two straight sets.
The Pilots now hit the road for a three-match swing in California. The UP-UC Santa Barbara match is set for Friday, April 16. UP then faces Cal State Northridge on Saturday, April 17 before taking on WCC opponent Loyola Marymount on Sunday, April 19.
“We are looking forward to outdoor matches in California this weekend to get match ready for the West Coast Conference tournament,” said Campbell-Gross.
The WCC Championships run Friday-Sunday, April 23-25 in San Diego, Calif.
