THE OPPONENTS: Texas A&M is 1-1-0 after splitting a pair of matches. The Aggies beat Cal 3-1 after losing to Stanford 4-2. Linsey Johnson has two goals and an assist to lead Texas A&M, while Nicky Thrasher adds a goal and an assist. Esther Thompson has played all 180 minutes in goal with a 2.50 goals against average. Portland and Texas A&M have never met in women’s soccer.

Brigham Young beat Minnesota 3-0 and Northwestern 1-0, running its record to 3-1-0 on the year. BYU also beat Southern Cal 2-0, but then lost 2-1 to Tennessee. Sarah Higham Yee leads the Cougars with two goals and an assist, while Kelly Hunsberger adds two goals. Jennifer Waldron has a 0.57 goals against average in 315 minutes. Portland is 1-0-0 vs. BYU after beating the Cougars 2-1 in overtime last season.

THE TOURNAMENT: Portland and Washington have each won three titles in the six-year history of the NIKE Husky Classic, with the Pilots winning the last three trophies. In 1999, Portland beat Washington State 4-0 and Washington 2-1. Portland hasn’t lost a game in the history of the tournament, holding an 11-0-1 record.
