The University of Portland women’s basketball team lost to the Weber State Wildcats, 79-53 on Thurs., Dec. 19 in Ogden, Utah. Portland moves to 3-5 on the season, while Weber State improves to 4-3 overall.
The Pilots struggled offensively with Weber State tonight. Portland shot just 1-of-7 from three-point range in the first half and 3-of-16 (19 percent) for the game. Weber State was 11-of-24 (46 percent) from behind the arc, 23-of-48 (48 percent) from the field and 22-of-27 (81 percent) from the free-throw line on the night. The Wildcats out-rebounded Portland, 50-26 and scored 31 points from its bench. For the game, the Pilots shot 19-of-62 (31 percent) from the field and 12-of-18 (67 percent) from the charity stripe. Portland racked up 18 points off Weber State turnovers and 18 points in the paint for the game.
Portland’s Khalila O’Rielly-Williams led the team with 11 points and seven rebounds on 4-of-17 shooting from the field and 3-of-6 shooting from three-point range. Michaela Dalgleish tallied nine points, two assists and two steals, while Amy Botto chipped in nine points.
Weber State had four players score in double-figures on the night. Julie Gjersten led all players with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Crystal Howe totaled 12 points and 12 boards, while Sheila Robertson notched 15 points.
