Travis Hanson homered and tripled Thursday, leading Portland to a 5-1 win over Northwestern at the Oakland A's Spring Invitational in Phoenix.
Hanson homered in the first inning with Trevor Hahn on board, giving starter Kyle Corra (1-0) all the runs he'd need.
Corra scattered five hits over six innings, with two strikeouts. Portland relievers Justin Ballweber, Brule Speck and Zach Yarbrough finished up for Corra, and Yarbrough got the final two outs for the save.
Eric Hull, Brad Stewart and Brock Griffin each had two hits for Portland, and only Hahn went hitless for the Pilots as Portland banged out 12 hits.
The Pilots face Missouri Friday at 3 p.m.
