LISLE, IL - The Portland men’s cross country team received a No. 15 ranking in the Mondo Men’s NCAA-I Cross Country Preseason Poll, released by the US Cross Country Coaches Association on Tues., Aug. 27. The No. 15 ranking is the highest preseason ranking ever in school history.
The Portland men are seeking an unprecedented 24th-straight WCC cross country title in 2002. Last season the Pilots marked a seventh-place NCAA finish and are looking to continue the trend in 2002. Leading the way for the Pilots is junior Jeff Driscoll, sophomore Matt Harriman and 2001 WCC Champion and Freshman of the Year Nick Schuetze. With Schuetze claiming the individual crown in 2001, Portland has boasted the WCC Champion for the last 23 years.
