The University of Portland’s athletic department recently hired Ryan Cabiles as its strength and conditioning coach.
With an extensive background in sports injury management, Cabiles has established an impressive reputation in the strength and conditioning arena. Cabiles received his bachelor's degree in sports injury management from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas in May of 1998. He worked with the Portland Trailblazers from 1998-2002 and the Portland Fire from 2000-02. Cabiles was integral in the 1999-2000 UNLV men’s basketball Mountain West Conference Tournament and Regular-Season Championship team and was also the strength coach for the 2000 UNLV women’s tennis MWC Championship teams.
Cabiles is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the College Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA). He will be responsible for developing and implementing year-round strength, speed, agility and endurance programs with a preseason emphasis on agility and endurance conditioning.
