COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- Mike McCabe shot a final round 74 to finish in a tie for seventh place at the Falcon Invitational, hosted by the Air Force Academy. As a team, Portland fell to 13th place in the 18-team field with a final round 305.
For the tournament, the team shot an 896 (291-300-305) and dropped from ninth place after the second round to 13th. Texas-San Antonio took the team title with an 859 (282-287-290). The Pilots finished the highest of the three participating West Coast Conference schools, as Gonzaga finished tied for 16th, and San Diego came in 18th.
Texas-San Antonio’s Mike Mezei held on for the individual title with a final round 70. Mezei finished at 9-under par (66-71-70-207). McCabe, who shot a career-best 67 in the second round, finished the tournament at 1-under par (74-67-74-215), besting his previous 54-hole low score by one stroke.
Tony Peressini (74-79-74-227) and Kevin Beavers (71-77-79-227) finished in a tie for 51st. Jake Easterly tied for 61st (72-77-80-229) and Justin Burwell finished 94th (82-80-78-240).
