University of Portland junior forward Alejandro Salazar, the reigning West Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Year, has been selected to the College Soccer News preseason All-America first team. Salazar, a Portland, Ore. native, led the the Pilots and the WCC in scoring with 10 goals and 21 points as a sophomore in 2003 earning his second consecutive all-WCC first team award.
An efficient and timely striker, Salazar attempted just 29 shots in recording his 10 goals last season. He was named the College Soccer News National Player of the Week after recording his first career hat trick against the University of San Diego on Nov. 3. Salazar also garnered a first team NSCAA all-Far West selection, he was the only underclassman named to the squad.
