The University of Portland’s men’s tennis team won a 5-2 decision over San Francisco in a neutral site match on Sunday afternoon. Portland (1-1, 1-0 WCC) won four of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches to hand San Francisco (0-2, 0-1 WCC) its second loss of the dual season.
Ranked No. 111 in the nation, Pilot junior Matthew Loucks took out San Francisco’s Timo Kienle 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 1 singles position. Senior Roman Borvanov, junior James Redpath and junior Colby Jager also won their singles matches for Portland. The tandems of Loucks and Redpath and Borvanov and sophomore Scott Kennel were victorious in doubles.
The next match for Portland will be at the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center on Saturday as the Pilots host Idaho State. The match will begin at 2 p.m.
