The University of Portland’s women’s basketball team (6-21, 1-13 WCC) lost their final game of the regular season on Saturday night, falling 81-35 to No. 25 Gonzaga (25-2, 14-0 WCC). Gonzaga was led by Stephanie Hawk, who had 20 points and eight rebounds. Whitney Grant and Jamie Medley each broke into double figures for the Pilots with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
With the win, the Bulldogs complete just the second undefeated conference season in WCC history. Gonzaga shot a blistering .508 from the field and dominated the glass, pulling down 48 rebounds to Portland’s 27. Only four Pilots registered a point during the game.
The Pilots' 35 points tied a season low. Portland's offense also mustered just 35 against Brigham Young on November 30.
Portland's next action will be on Thursday at the WCC championship in Santa Clara, Calif. The Pilots will enter the tournament as the No. 8 seed, and will play Gonzaga on March 3 in the first round.
