Portland leads all schools at the University Division with five representatives on the first and second teams
The University of Portland Pilots powered their way to the NCAA Division I title and have maintained their momentum in the post-season honors season, claiming five spots on the University Division of the 2005 NSCAA/adidas Women’s Scholar All-America Team. For the first time, the Scholar All-America Team has been divided into two divisions: University, recognizing NCAA Division I players, and College, which features players from NCAA Division II and III and NAIA schools.
Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy finalist and Scholar All-American of the Year Christine Sinclair (Burnaby, B.C.) was joined on the University Division first team by teammate Lindsey Huie (Laguna Woods, Calif.), while Cori Alexander (Martinez, Calif.), Kari Evans (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Kelsy Hollenbeck (San Bruno, Calif.) received second-team mention.
To be eligible for consideration for the team, a player must by at least a junior in academic standing, have no less than a 3.30 cumulative grade point average, start at least 50 percent of the team’s games and be nominated by an NSCAA member coach.
The 50 honorees will be invited to the NSCAA All-America Luncheon, which will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, as part of the 2006 NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia, Pa.
