Junior David Kinsella places ninth, Pilots seventh at premier event

 

TERRA HAUTE, Ind. --- Junior David Kinsella finished ninth and led the Portland Pilots to a seventh place finish at the Pre-Nationals Blue Race, completed at the 8K LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course on Saturday. Portland finished seventh among the 38 teams that competed in the race, which included 13 nationally ranked teams.

 

Northern Arizona won the Blue Race with a team score of 124. Portland’s team score totaled 250.

 

Kinsella clocked a time of 23:33, 30 seconds behind race winner Lopez Lomong of Northern Arizona. Portland seniors John Moore and Michael Kilburg also ran under 24 minute races and finished in the top 30 among 261 total competitors.

 

In addition to the seven runners in the Blue Race, the Pilots had five runners compete in the 8K Men’s Open Race. Complete Portland results are listed below, while complete meet results are posted above.

 

The Pilots will next compete at the Beaver Classic in Corvallis, Ore. on Oct. 20, before preparing for the West Coast Conference Championship meet in Belmont, Calif. on Oct. 27.
