PORTLAND, Ore. --- Comcast SportsNet will televise seven men’s basketball games and all women’s soccer home playoff matches this November as part of a newly formed partnership with the University of Portland athletic department.
“We are always looking to enhance our coverage and showcase our athletic programs to as wide an audience as possible,” Portland Athletic Director Larry Williams said. “This deal with Comcast SportsNet will continue to expand our television exposure to unprecedented levels.”
Comcast SportsNet, which can be seen on Comcast channel 37, will debut on November 1.
“Comcast SportsNet is very pleased to add University of Portland women’s soccer and men’s basketball games to our current slate of programming,” said Dave Manougian, executive vice president of sports programming for Comcast. “The Pilots women’s soccer team is obviously amongst the best in the nation and we’re excited to be able to bring our viewers every playoff game they host this November. We look forward to adding this relevant programming to our well-rounded sports channel.”
Comcast SportsNet has committed to air all Portland women’s soccer home playoff matches this November. Playoff participants and host sites will be announced by the NCAA on Monday, November 12 and the first and second rounds will be November 16-18.
The first Portland basketball game on Comcast SportsNet will feature the Pilots against in-state rival and 2007 NCAA Elite 8 participant Oregon on November 17.
Six West Coast Conference games will also be featured, beginning with a home game against San Francisco on Jan. 19. Road games at Saint Mary’s (Feb. 2), San Diego (Feb. 16) and San Francisco (Feb. 18) are also on the schedule, as well as the final two games of the regular season when Portland hosts Santa Clara (March 1) and Saint Mary’s (March 3).
