Huskies improve to 46-0 all-time against Portland
SEATTLE, Wash. --- The No. 75 University of Portland men’s tennis team faced a tough test Friday night on the road at Washington and was swept 7-0 by the 15th-ranked Huskies. Washington (7-1) has won five in a row and improves to 7-0 at Nordstrom Tennis Center, while the Pilots fall to 3-3 on the season.
Washington took the doubles point with a sweep of the Pilots. Patrik Fischer and Mike Ricks, rated the No. 35 doubles tandem in the nation, secured the point with an 8-5 win over Alex Strom and Charlie Yemm at No. 2. Daniel Chu and Holden Ching defeated Joel Kincaid and Evan Schleining 8-1 at No. 3, while Andy Kuharszky and Alex Slovic beat Filip Zivkovic and Colby Jager, 8-3.
Slovik, ranked 98th in singles, defeated Zivkovic 6-4, 6-1 for UW’s next point in singles play and the Huskies would go on to sweep the Pilots with straight set victories at the other five positions.
Portland returns home to face Linfield and Whitman in a doubleheader on Feb. 24.
