PORTLAND, Ore. --- The University of Portland track teams hosted several Northwest schools in the Chiles Center for an evening indoor track meet on Friday, Feb. 7 and continued their strong starts to the season. Complete meet results can be seen by following the above link.
High jumper Danny Cosgrove (pictured) got the meet started in thrilling fashion, winning the high jump with a height of 1.88m (6'-2") in front of a large crowd of teammates cheering him on during his final attempt.
"I'm really proud of Danny," assistant track coach Dan Cash said. "Not only because he jumped well and won the high jump event, but because he has worked very hard to improve and has become more focused each year he has competed for the Pilots."
Senior Kevin Krohn also picked up a win for the men, finishing the 3000 meter with a time of 8:56.8. Portland claimed the top four spots in the 3000, with senior Steven Ault, freshman Jordon Foster and senior J.T. Lehman following Krohn.
On the women's side, senior Patrice Pierre (pictured) won the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.2. Portland also took the top three spots in the 400 meters, with sophomore Krista Roumeliotis taking the tape with a time of 1:02.0 and freshman Carolyn Borsch (1:02.2) and Corinne Miller (1:03.3) right behind.
The Pilots continue the indoor season with the Husky Classic on Saturday, Feb. 10 in Seattle, Wash.
