SALEM, Ore. --- The University of Portland track team had a successful weekend at the Willamette Invitational, with several Pilots recording season-best marks and dominating many distance events.

Junior John Moore won the 5000 meters, taking the tape with a time of 14:12.61. Other times in the men’s 5000 included senior Steven Ault (14:56.07), freshman Jordan Foster (15:05.65), junior Kevin Krohn (15:24.44), Robinson (15:36.30), senior Michael Haugen (15:38.54), sophomore Nick Bellisario (15:39.97), Andy Gorder (unattached; 15:51.75), junior Derek Mandell (15:56.69) and freshman Lane Johnson (16:24.69).
In the 10,000 meters, Rob Schlegel, running unattached, won with a time of 32:02.27 and sophomore Colin Longmuir finished in second, clocking in at 32:04.95. Freshman Derrick Simmons placed fourth with a time of 32:29.17, with sophomore Corey Hansen (32:54.46) and sophomore Johnson Lee (33:38.82) following.
Senior Chuck McKenzie placed second in the 1500 with a time of 4:48.98, followed by senior Matt Sheeks (3rd, 3:50.23) and senior Brendan Robinson (9th, 3:57.37). All three times were personal season-highs for 2007.
Junior Danny Cosgrove placed fifth in the men’s triple jump with a distance 12.8 meters and also cleared 1.85 meters in the high jump.
Next up on the track team’s schedule is the Cardinal Invitational at the Stanford campus in Palo Alto, Calif., on April 29.
