PORTLAND, Ore. --- Cassandra Brown, who has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Portland Pilots women’s basketball team as a freshman next fall, has been named to the 2010 Canadian Junior Women’s National Team. Brown and the junior national team are set to play exhibition games against the U.S. and Brazil before competing at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The five-day, eight-team tournament begins on June 23 and the top four teams will qualify for the FIBA U19 World Championship in Chile.
Brown, a 6-2 wing at Clarence Fulton in Vernon, B.C., averaged 34 points and nearly eight assists per game during her senior campaign, helping lead the Maroons to silver at the senior AA girls provincials this spring. Brown is a regular member of the British Columbia Provincial Teams and she is a three-time selection to the Centre of Performance Training Camp (National Team Program).
