THIS WEEK
• The Pilots wrap up the regular season this weekend with a pair of West Coast Conference games at Merlo Field.
• First the Saint Mary's Gaels visit for a 7 p.m. match on Friday night.
• The San Francisco Dons then come to The Bluff for a 1:00 p.m. game on Sunday.
• Sunday is senior day for the Pilots and Justin and Tyler Baarts, Jason Dodson, Alex Gatewood and Thomas Iwasaki will be honored with a pre-game ceremony.
ABOUT THE PILOTS...
• Freshman attacking midfielder Eddie Sanchez ranks fifth in the country in goals per game (0.75) and he's seventh nationally in points per game (1.69); he's sixth in total goals (12) and 11th in total points (27), while leading the WCC in all four categories.
• Sanchez registered a hat trick during a 4-1 win at Santa Clara on Oct. 20 becoming the first Pilot to score three goals in a game since 2003.
• Head coach and Director of Soccer Bill Irwin notched career win No. 100 on Oct. 11 when the Pilots defeated San Diego 2-1 at Merlo Field; Irwin is in his 11th year at the helm of the UP men's soccer program and he's in his 27th year overall on the Portland staff.
• The Pilots feature the most prolific offense in the WCC, leading the way with 33 goals and 93 points; Portland ranks 18th nationally in total goals, is 25th in goals per game (1,83) and is 26th in total points.
• Ten different Pilots (Boggs, Caprio, Corbett, Escobar, Iwasaki, Liberator, Munger, Rhoads, Sanchez, Velasco) have combined to score Portland's 33 goals this season.
• Goalkeeper Jason Dodson nabbed WCC Player of the Week honors (Sept. 30) after making six saves during a 3-0 shutout at home over SMU on Sept. 29.
• Sophomore midfielder Jaime Velasco was named to the National Team of the Week (Sept. 23) by College Soccer News after a two-goal performance against Oregon State on Sept. 19.
• Michael Escobar was named the WCC's Player of the Week by College Sports Madness following his one-goal, three-assist performance (Sept. 13-15) during wins over Air Force and Seattle.
• Derek Boggs was named to the WCC Preseason All-Conference Team, while the Pilots were picked sixth in a tight vote by the league's head coaches.
• Portland has been to two College Cups (1988 & 1995) and has reached the NCAA Postseason 14 times.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
• Both the Gaels and Dons sit just ahead of the Pilots in the WCC standings.
• Saint Mary's has out-scored opponents this year by a slim 21-20 margin; Alex Braman leads the way with five goals and 11 points.
• The Dons have been out-scored 21-16 and both Miguel Aguilar and Jesus Del Toro have a team-best three goals.
• The Pilots defeated the Dons in San Francisco 3-2 on Oct. 4 before dropping a 3-2 decision in overtime at Saint Mary's on Oct. 6.
EDDIE WOULD GO

• Sanchez is part of a prolific freshman class for the Pilots, who have made an immediate impact this season.
• Forward Aaron Caprio has started 17 of 18 matches this fall and he has one goal and four assists.
• Midfielder Matthew Coffey has 16 starts under his belt, and he's recorded three assists thus far.

• Head coach and UP Director of Soccer Bill Irwin recorded career win No. 100 on Oct. 11 when the Pilots topped San Diego 2-1 at Merlo Field.

IT'S A FAMILY AFFAIR
• Sunday will be bittersweet for the Baarts Trio is it will mark the final game sharing the same bench.
• Assistant coach Rob Baarts' son Tyler is in his senior year as a defender with the Pilots, while Rob's nephew and Tyler's cousin Justin is a redshirt-senior goalkeeper.
• New to the Portland roster this year are freshmen twin brothers Conor and Rory Johnston, who came to The Bluff from Sonoma, Calif.
• Conor is a defender, while Rory plays in the midfield.
