THIS WEEK
• The Portland Pilots play their final two non-conference games of the season this week when they host Cal Poly at the Chiles Center on Wednesday night and make the short trek to Portland State on Saturday.
• Tip-off on Wednesday with the Mustangs is set for 7 p.m., while Saturday's game against the Vikings at the Stott Center will begin at 2 p.m.
LAST WEEK
• The Pilots made multiple runs during the second half at Fresno State last Saturday, but the Bulldogs would prevail 76-67 behind a bevy of free throws and a barrage of three-pointers.
• Fresno State led by 12 at the break, but Portland twice pulled within a point in the second half.
• Both Kari Luttinen and Jasmine Wooton scored 17 points for the Pilots, while the Bulldogs connected on 12 three's, a single-game high for a Portland opponent this season.
ABOUT THE PILOTS
• Junior guard Kari Luttinen has scored at least 20 points in three of the past four games; she posted 20 points against Columbia, 21 against Oregon State and a career-high 25 points vs. Boise State before scoring 17 last Saturday at Fresno State.
• Luttinen was the first UP player to score 20 points or more in three straight games since Natalie Day in January of 2012.
• Cassandra Brown notched her first career double-double with 28 points and 12 rebounds during Portland's first ever win against Washington, which was a 91-77 victory in Seattle on Nov. 15.
• Brown hit a career-best six three-pointers to help the Pilots match a program record with 15 three's overall.
• The 91 points were the most for the Pilots since also scoring 91 against Washington State in 2010.
• Four Pilots are averaging double figures in scoring (Brown, Luttinen, Byrd, Wooton) and two Pilots (Thompson, Pupa) are averaging at least seven rebounds per game.
• The Pilots returned 11 letterwinners and four starters from 2012-13.
• Brown, a redshirt-junior, missed all of last season while recovering from off-season surgery.
• Portland's roster features three newcomers, which includes 2012 Alaska State High School Player of the Year Hannah Mattson and freshman transfer guard Kaylie Van Loo, who comes to UP from the University of Idaho where she was briefly on the track & field team; Van Loo must sit out this season due to NCAA transfer rules.
• Head coach Jim Sollars is in his 28th year at the helm of the Pilots and the victory over Seattle on Nov. 24 was career win No. 400 at the NCAA Division I level.
• Sollars ranks second all-time in WCC wins (164) and he's been named league coach of the year an unprecedented five times.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT(s)
• The Mustangs have won four straight games, which includes wins over WCC teams San Francisco and Pepperdine.
• 6-5 senior post Molly Schlemer is averaging a double-double (16.4 ppg, 10.4 rpg) this season and is one of four Mustangs scoring in double figures.
• Head coach Faith Mimnaugh is in her 17th year at the helm of the Mustangs.
• The Vikings play at Georgia Tech on Tuesday night before hosting the Pilots.
• Senior guard Kate Lanz is putting up a team-best 13.9 points per game, while senior forward Angela Misa is averaging 10.5 points and 8.7 rebounds.
• Sherri Murrell is in her seventh year as head coach at PSU, and the Vikings' coaching staff features former UP women's hoops player Jennifer Wassom (2005-09).
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE O
• The Pilots are clicking offensively this season, averaging 73.2 points per game.
• Portland has already scored 80 or more points three times this year after accomplishing that feat just once last year.
• The 91 points against Oregon were the most points scored by the Pilots since also putting up 91 points against Washington State in 2010.
• Four Pilots are averaging double figures in points, led by Kari Luttinen (16.1 ppg), who ranks seventh in the WCC in scoring and has scored 20 or more points in three of the past four games.
• Cassandra Brown, Alexis Byrd and Jasmine Wooton also have games of 20 or more points this season.
MAKE IT RAIN
• During a 91-77 win at Washington (Nov. 15) the Pilots matched a program record with 15 three-pointers; UP was 15 of 24 (.625) overall at UW and Cassandra Brown was six of eight from beyond the three-point arc.
• Kari Luttinen ranks third in the WCC with by averaging just over two three's per game and she's fourth in three-point percentage (.426).
ANOTHER MILESTONE
• Chalk up another milestone for Portland head coach Jim Sollars, who is in his 28th year at the helm of the Pilots and in his 38th year overall as a head coach.
• Portland's win over Seattle on Nov. 24 was career No. 400 at the NCAA DI level for Sollars, who previously coached at Portland State.
• Sollars, who has also coached Wenatchee Valley CC, has compiled 402 wins with the Pilots and 556 wins overall.
• He also ranks second all-time in the WCC with 164 career conference wins.
