Dons Edge Pilots in Women’s Tennis Action

PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots women’s tennis team lost a close match to the visiting San Francisco Dons, 4-3, Friday at the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center. The Pilots split the singles matches, including wins by Anastasia Polyakova, Sabine Fuchs and Saroop Dhatt.

Polyakova defeated Sofia Holmberg 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot, while Fuchs came back to win a third set tiebreaker over Milica Hadzi-Tanovic at the No. 3 position.

Dhatt finished the day with an impressive 6-2, 6-4 victory against Melinda Akerbrant at the No. 6 spot.

Freshman Maja Mladenovic battled No. 87-ranked Andrea Ka to three sets at the top singles position before dropping the point.

The Pilots will conclude the regular season on Saturday against the Santa Clara Broncos at the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. and will be preceded by a Senior Day presentation for Valeska Hoath and Sabine Fuchs. The WCC Tournament is scheduled for April 25-27 in San Diego, Calif.
