Box Score (pdf)STOCKTON, Calif. --- Portland's Michael Escobar leveled the score with a goal in the 81st minute, but Pacific's Alec Prusa notched the game-winner only minutes later as the Tigers prevailed 2-1 over the Pilots in a West Coast Conference men's soccer game at Knoles Soccer Field on Friday night. Portland (4-9-4, 0-4-1 WCC) finished with a sizable 24-12 advantage in shots.

After a scoreless first half, the Tigers (3-12-1, 1-3-0 WCC) took a 1-0 lead in the 55th minute. On a give-and-go, Tristan Blackmon received a pass from Richie Lee and finished from 12 yards out to hand Pacific a 1-nil lead.

The game remained 1-0 until the 81st minute when Michael Escobar crushed a shot into the left corner of the net in the 81st minute. On a loose ball inside the 18, Escobar one-timed his fifth goal of the year past Pacific keeper Josh Adachi.

Pacific had an answer though, and it came on a corner kick only two minutes later. Esteban De La Torre sent a corner towards the penalty spot, and Prusa flicked on what would prove to be the game-winner into the right corner of the net.

Portland would then pressure the final third looking for the equalizer, and Escobar headed a ball towards the frame in the 87th minute. But Adachi was there to make the save and help preserve the win.

Adachi survived the onslaught of Portland shots to make six saves, while UP freshman goalkeeper Paul Christensen countered with four stops.

The Pilots dominated possession in the first half and also claimed the majority of the shots during the first 45 minutes.

There was a flurry of activity in front of the Pacific goal in the 15th minute and the Pilots were able to get three shots off. But the Tigers avoided any damage, which included a save by Pacific defender Alec Prusa on a shot off the foot of Eddie Sanchez.

Escobar hit a shot wide in the 35th minute and Dustin Munger dragged an attempt wide in the 42nd as the two sides would enter the locker room at half scoreless. The Pilots held a 10-4 edge in shots in the first half.

The Pilots next return to The Bluff to play their final home game of the season on Sunday when they host Saint Mary's at 1 p.m. Portland will honor its five seniors, Derek Boggs, Steven Corbett, Kyle Foster, Michael Escobar and Matt Liberator, with a pre-game ceremony.
