BOISE, Idaho --- The Boise State Broncos defeated the Portland Pilots 94-58 in a non-conference women's basketball game played on Sunday afternoon at Taco Bell Arena. Cassandra Brown, who was six of 12 from the field, led the Pilots with 13 points.

Portland (2-9) fell to the Broncos (8-3) despite shooting 55 percent (24-for-44) on the afternoon. Boise State did take advantage of 30 Portland turnovers, which lead to 32 points for the Broncos.Â

Portland opened the game on fire from the field, hitting eight of its first 10 shots. Brown had 11 early points as the Pilots hung around for most of the first half. But the Broncos capitalized on 17 first-half turnovers by the Pilots to take a 10-point lead twice.

The Pilots cut into the deficit just before the half with the help of a pair of lay-ups by Brown and Cassandra Thompson, but Boise State used a 9-0 run to take a 46-30 lead into the locker room at the break. Portland shot 68 percent (13-for-19) during the first half, but the Broncos claimed a decisive 16-0 advantage in points off of turnovers.

After Portland's Kari Luttinen opened the second half by knocking down a jumper, the Broncos pushed the lead to 20 points and never looked back en route to the win.

Luttinen added 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting. She hit two three-pointers on three attempts.

Kenna McDavis led a balanced Boise State scoring attack with a game-high 14 points. The Broncos hit eight more field goals than Portland, shooting 43 percent (32-for-74) overall. Boise State also connected on 11 three-pointers, out-rebounded the Pilots 37-32 and committed just nine turnovers.

The Pilots were 6-for-14 from beyond the three-point arc and were only four of 10 from the free throw line. Boise State was 19-for-25 on foul shots.

The Pilots next open play in the West Coast Conference when they host the San Diego Toreros on Saturday, Dec. 27. Tip-off at the Chiles Center is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
