Full Results STANFORD, Calif. – Portland redshirt juniors David Perry and Scott Fauble ran the fourth and fifth fastest 10,000-meter times in school history during the Stanford Invitational. Their times of 28:42.35 and 28:43.7 will also qualify them for the NCAA West Regional in late May. Timo Goehler (29:19.38) and Charlie McDonald (29:32.42) raced in the second-heat of the men's 10,000-meter, and also likely punched their ticket to the Regional meet.
In the men's 5,000-meter, Danny Martinez made a strong showing when he ran a personal best in the first section of the race. His time of 14:15.37 placed him fifth in his heat.
Tansey Lystad produced a victory in the third section of the women's steeplechase with a record-setting run. Her time of 10:15.83 was the fastest in school history and will qualify her for the West Regional meet, as well.
Another highlight was Lorea Ibarazabal winning her heat of the women's 800-meter in a personal-best time of 2:10.24. Her time places her fourth all-time in the school record books for the 800-meter run. Continuing on with the middle-distance success was Julia Fonk in the women's 1,500-meter. She set a personal-best and placed second in the race with a 4:27.88—good for sixth all-time in school history. Anne Luijten ran 4:32.97 and placed fourth in the sixth heat of the women's 1,500-meter.
The women of Portland proved they were also a forced to be reckoned with in the distance events. Sanna Mustonen ran the second-fastest time in school history in her heat of the 10,000-meter. Mustonen clocked a 34:18.12 for 11
th place in her heat.
Merel van Steenbergen ran wonderfully in the 5,000-meter to set a personal-best time of 16:31.57, she placed fifth in her heat, and now moves to fifth all-time for the distance in school history. In the same heat was Gina Paletta; she ran 17:04.12 and finished 18
th.
It was an incredible weekend of running for the entire squad. On that will be remembered for the eight top-ten finishes and seven new additions to the school-record books.
