"We put a big emphasis on academics in our program, both in recruiting and once our student-athletes are here," Portland women's head coach Ian Solof said. "I am really proud of how hard this team works in the classroom and the commitment they make to academic success. Being among the top 15 team GPA's in the nation is impressive, but even more so when you consider how many women we have in majors like engineering, biology, and nursing. Coupled with our performances on the track, this really shows what a great combination of academic environment and high-level athletics we offer."

A total of 208 women's teams and 116 men's teams were honored by the USTFCCCA as a result of earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher.
