LAST WEEK • The Pilots opened the season with a 1-0 win over the UCF Knights at the Nike Invitational last Friday night at Merlo Field.
• Sophomore Geoffrey Dunn scored his first collegiate goal in the 37th minute and freshman goalkeeper Paul Christensen made six saves to record his first career shutout in his first game as a Pilot.
• Against Evansville on Sunday, senior Steven Corbett gave the Pilots the lead with his first goal of the year in the 59th minute, but the Purple Aces were able to equalize in the 64th minute as the two teams played to a 1-1 draw.
• Corbett's goal came on a perfectly executed set piece when Derek Boggs flicked on a corner off the foot of Erik Edwardson; Corbett elevated to finish inside the far post with a header.

• Freshman Erik Edwardson, who scored two goals during a 4-0 exhibition win over Linfield on Aug. 22, has assisted on both Portland goals this season.
