Complete Women's ScheduleSEATTLE, Wash. --- The Portland Pilots Men's and Women's track teams started off 2015 competition at the University of Washington Preview on Saturday. This meet was the second team event of the indoor season for the Pilots.
On the women's side, Lorea Ibarzabal led the Pilots with an 11
th place finish in the mile with a time of 4:55. The 4x800 team of Taryn Rawlings, Melissa Hastings, Brenna Symoniak, and Lorea Ibarzabal placed fourth behind Oregon State, Washington, and Trinity Western.
Portland's triple jumper, Katherine Maus, placed 15
th with a best distance of 11.21 meters.
For the men, in the 400 meter men's final, Korey Thieleke led the Pilots with a 12
th place finish and a time of 49:62. Portland had seven men competing in the 3000 meter race; Woody Kincaid crossed the line first with a time of 8:23 to come in 17
th place. Chirs Borg placed 29
th in the mile with a time of 4:14 and the men's 4x800 meter relay team of Ryan Wilson, Shane Fekete, Martin Ramos, and Danny Martinez placed 9
th overall with a time of 8:41.
In the finals of the men's long jump, Nathan DeVaughn placed 19
th with a distance of 6.40 meters.
The Portland Pilots next return to Seattle on Jan. 30 and 31 to compete in the University of Washington Invitational.
