PORTLAND, Ore. --- Former Portland women's soccer standouts Keelin Winters, Dani Foxhoven and Stephanie Cox each scored a goal and six UP alums total played for the Seattle Reign FC as they defeated the Pilots 5-0 in an exhibition soccer game played on Saturday night at Merlo Field.
Â
Winters scored the game's first goal in the eighth minute, Foxhoven's goal came in the 38th minute and Cox found the back of the net in the 48th. All three players started the match for the Reign, as did fellow alums Amanda Frisbie and Elli Reed. Michelle Cruz entered the match as a sub in the second half.
Â
Winters' goal came in the ninth minute after a corner kick from Kim Little deflected off the gloves of Portland goalkeeper Hanna de Haan. Foxhoven followed when she bent a shot into the upper 90 from the top of the box to make it a 2-0 game. Little then gave the Reign a three-goal cushion with a goal during first half stoppage time.
Â
Cox went top shelf with a shot in the 48th minute on a nice feed from Little, who capped the scoring with her second goal of the night in the 52nd minute.
Â
The Pilots did put together some quality possession in spurts throughout the match and Portland did well to limit the Reign's scoring opportunities during the match's final 38 minutes. De Haan finished with four saves.
