Women's Start ListsPORTLAND, Ore. --- Members of the Portland Pilots men's and women's track teams will head to Austin, Texas this weekend for the NCAA Preliminary Championships. Six men and five women have hit marks that qualify them for the event, with Scott Fauble in the 10,000 meter and Tansey Lystad in the 5,000 meter being the top qualifiers for the Pilots.
There will be two preliminary championships this weekend, one for the west and one for the east, where the top 48 athletes in each event—except for the top 24 groups in the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays—will compete. The top finishers from each region will compete at the NCAA Championships which will take place during the second week in June in Eugene, Ore.
Scott Fauble leads three Pilots heading into the 10,000 meter race after taking the 8
th qualifying spot with a time of 28:50.44. Also competing in the 10,000 meter and wearing purple will be Timo Goehler and Alex Dillard. William Kincaid and Ryan Poland will be the other male Pilots competing in a distance event as they will tackle the 5,000 meter. In the shorter distance, program record holder Korey Thieleke will race in the 400 meter.
On the women's side, Tansey Lystad heads into the 5,000 meter with the 6
th best qualifying time of 15:42.22. Also in running events will be Taryn Rawlings in the 800 meter and Julia Fonk in the 1,500 meter. In field events, Katherine Maus will compete in the triple jump and Kaylie Van Loo will throw the javelin.
