CORVALLIS, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots Men's and Women's Track & Field team competed at the OSU High Performance meet on Friday and Saturday. Top spots were taken by both members of the field and track teams.
The day started and ended with a school record. Kaylie Van Loo threw a school record and PR in the javelin with her throw of 161' 11 ¼" and the 4x400 team completed the four lap competition in 3:52.97.
Castillo, Kendrick, Ibarzabal, and Souders set the school record in the 4x400 m. The four Pilots topped the previous time of 3:53.12 that was set in 1982.
Dani Castillo set a PR in the 400m with her top ten program time of 58.03.
Christina Francisco set a Guam national record in the 400m hurdles with her time of 1:04.00.
"Great meet today for the Pilots," said sprint and field coach Chad Colwell. "Women really competed well and had the PRs and school records to show for it."
On the men's side, Cobie Chavez-Killinger ran a great 800m race despite windy conditions finishing the two laps in a time of 1:52.70.
The Pilots will next be in action on Saturday, May 1 at the Payton Jordan at Stanford University on Sunday.
