OCCIDENTAL, Calif --- The Portland Pilots men's and women's track & field teams competed today at the Occidental Invite in California. Lauren LaRocco led the Pilots through a successful day with a victory in the 5000 meters. Finishing first overall for the women, she crossed the line at 15:58.31. Anne Luijten and Anna Farello followed close behind with times of 16:20.23 and 16:26.16, respectively.
 
Parkes Kendrick started off the afternoon for the Pilots in the 1500 meters. Placing third overall, she ran a season-best with a time of 4:22.10.
 
Lorea Ibarzabal competed in the 800 meters later in the day, running a time of 2:08.99.
 
Finishing off the night, was the men's 5000 meters. Timo Goehler led the group with a time of 14:03.45, which was closely followed by Alex Dillard finishing at 14:06.47. Jeff Thies and Ben Forsee posted times of 14:11.90 and 14:18.93.
 
The Pilots will return to the track this Thursday in Salem, Ore., at the West Coast Invite.
