STARKVILLE, Miss. --- The Portland Pilots (6-5) dominated Florida International (5-7) in three sets Saturday Morning in the Newell-Grissom Building. The Pilots claimed the victory with set scores of 25-13, 25-14, and 25-22.

The Pilots started off the first set with kills from Maddy Mandon, Morgan Robinson, and Katie Sullivan to make the score 6-4. Hannah Troutman then added to the lead with two kills. FIU tried to gain some momentum to make it 15-11 still in favor of the Pilots, but Sullivan and Robinson stopped their run with two kills to push the lead to six. Moments later Robinson and Sullivan combined with kills again to make it 24-13, capitalizing on FIU errors, and Robinson finished up the set with a service ace to allow the Pilots to take a 1-0 lead.

The Panthers and the Pilots started out the second set even at 4-4 before Troutman and Sullivan combined for kills to give the Pilots a 6-4 advantage. Troutman then registered two more kills, Sullivan added another and FIU again hurt themselves with costly errors, which allowed Portland to bump the score to 11-5. Troutman, Robinson, and Brittney Markwith then recorded a trio of kills to bring the score to 15-10, and Sullivan and Robinson followed with back-to-back plays to increase the lead 20-13. Troutman helped finished off the set with another pair of points, and Markwith claimed the set victory with a kill to end it 25-14.

To end the match, the Pilots opened up the last set with a seven point run on kills from Mandon and Troutman, while Robinson tallied a kill and an ace to come out 10-4. Troutman then added another ace and a kill along with a kill from Markwith to keep the lead at 15-10. Another kill from Robinson and three kills from Sullivan made it 18-12, and at match point Robinson finished off FIU with another service ace.

Troutman led the Pilots with 14 kills, followed by Sullivan with eight and Markwith with five. Robinson registered four service aces and 11 digs for the match, and Cali Thompson totaled 33 assists. Monica Gajda also had 13 digs.

The Pilots will next take on Maroon Classic host Mississippi State Saturday night at 5 p.m.
