MONMOUTH, Ore --- Five Pilots from Portland's JV squad competed Friday evening at the WOU Ash Creek Invite. Sophomore Sophia Noto led the Pilots with a 17^th place finish (17:21.4), followed by freshman
Alexandra Newsom who finished in 17:54.1. Sophomore Karli Piaia and freshman Emily Bechen were close behind crossing the line at 18:15.8 and 18:45.9, respectively. Freshmen Amanda Beaman closed the race for the Pilots in 19:05.0.
 
"This was a good first meet for these women," said Ian Solof. "Sophia and Alex both did well and are in good shape for this point in the season."
 
Both Pilots men's and women's cross country teams will next be in action on September 29 at the Dellinger Invitational in Eugene, Ore.
