SEATTLE, Wash. --- The Portland Pilots men's and women's track and field teams concluded competition at the UW Invite Saturday evening in the Dempsey Indoor facility with four Pilots recording times which moved them up the UP record book lists.

Sophomore Caleb Webb and junior Noah Schutte led the men with strong performances in the mile and the 3000m, respectively, and each recorded new personal records to move up the UP Indoor records. Webb finished fifth in his heat with a time of 4:08.02, breaks into the all-time UP records at number nine. Later in the day, Schutte also moved up to fifth all-time in the 3000m, with his 11
th place performance in his heat and time of 8:00.90.
In the 800m, junior Trent Mazelli produced an amazing kick to move from the back of the pack to the front in the the last 150m meters to win his heat in 1:54.23. Fellow junior Said Guermali also recorded a new personal indoor record in the 800 meter to break into the UP records at 10th all-time with a time of 1:55.26.

"Everyone did a great job," said men's head coach Rob Conner. "We saw a lot of progress."

On the women's side, sophomore Maya Murphy-Cook had an exceptional performance in the 60m dash, also recording a new PR to move up to fifth all-time. Junior Aoibhe Richardson also ran well in the 3000m, finishing 25
th overall, out of four heats in 9:47.56.

"A number of people took a nice step this weekend," said women's head coach Ian Solof. "Aoibhe Richardson, Maya Murphy-Cook, and Courtney Cox all impressed me with their tough aggressive racing. We'll take advantage of some training time and get great for the next one."

The Pilots will be back in action, again in Seattle, on February 9 and 10 at the Husky Invite.
