PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland senior midfielder Shane Aranda was named to the West Coast Conference Men's Soccer All-Academic Team, it was announced Wednesday morning. This is the first academic honor for Aranda, who originally hails from Phoenix, Ariz.
Â
A finance major with a 3.65 GPA, Aranda has made 49 career appearances during his four years on The Bluff. He's tallied two career assists, including one this year on the game-winning goal at Santa Clara, and he's played a key role defensively as the Pilots produced five shutouts this fall.
Â
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while also being a significant contributor to his team.
