FORREST GROVE, Ore. --- Portland sophomore Maya Murphy-Cook placed fifth overall in her first collegiate Heptathlon at the Pacific Boxer Combined Events, Wednesday afternoon at Hanson Stadium.

"Maya did a great job in her first college heptathlon," said head coach Ian Solof. "She has a lot of potential in this event and is only going to get better."

Murphy-Cook took eighth in the javelin (25.28m), ninth in the long jump, and seventh in the 800m to conclude the second day of competition.

The Portland Pilots men's and women's teams will next both be in action this weekend at the Stanford Invite and the SF Distance Carnival.
