Last Weekend: NCAA West Preliminary
• A total of five Pilots advanced out of the West Preliminary to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
• The five Pilots mark the most individuals ever to qualify for the outdoor meet.
• Junior Taryn Rawlings finished second in the second heat to automatically move onto the quarterfinals at the West Prelims. Rawlings then placed fourth in in the quarterfinal race for an automatic bid to the semifinal race at the upcoming championships. Her time of 4:13.25 bested her previous school record of 4:14.50.
• Senior Matt Welch and sophomore Emmanuel Roudolff-Levisse both clinched automatic qualifying spots in the 10,000m semifinal finishing fourth and 12th, respectively. Welch's time of 29:15.13 marked a new personal record for the Pilot.
• Three-time All-American Lauren LaRocco secured her second trip to the national meet with a qualifying 11th place finish in the semifinal of the 10,000m.
• Redshirt sophomore Riley Osen will be the youngest Pilot attending the national meet in the 3000m steeplechase. Osen finished sixth in his heat at the West Prelims, but his time of 8:44.09 was one of the next three fastest times overall which granted him a ticket to nationals. Osen's 8:44.09 was also a new personal best.
 
2018 Milestones
• Taryn Rawlings broke the UP 1500m Outdoor Record, the first time, at the Portland Twilight, finishing second in a time of 4:14.50. She held the fourth best time in the West going into the Preliminary meet.
• Simon Grannetia and Noah Schutte both recorded top-10 times in the West in the 3000m steeplechase during the 2018 season.
• Emmanuel Roudolff-Levisse had the eighth best time in the West in the 10,000m going into Prelims.
• A total of 13 Pilots qualified for the 2018 NCAA DI West Preliminary Championships.
• The Portland men's track and Field team ranked as high as #42 by the USTFCCCA.
• The Portland women's track and field team ranked as high as #72 nationally.
• Schutte was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Team
 
Last Season
• Three Pilots earned All-American Honors at the 2017 NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships.
• Jeff Thies placed 7th overall to earn first team All-American
• Both Grace McConnochie and Noah Schutte earned second team All-American honors in the 10,000m and 3000m steeplechase
