PORTLAND, Ore. – The University of Portland women's basketball team is off to a 4-0 start after two home wins last week. Last Wednesday's victory against Warner Pacific was preceded by a successful Education Day hosted by the Athletic Department and various institutional and campus partners.
Nearly 550 elementary school students showed up and took part in a variety of hosted learning booths with multiple activities around STEM, Healthy Living and Safety. The booths hosted instructional activities from 9 a.m. until the game began at 11 a.m. Each student also received a custom-made work book to take home as well.
It was the first event of its kind hosted by the Athletic Department is expected to be an annual tradition in future years.
Local elementary schools in attendance included: Astor, Oak Creek, Holy Cross, Cathedral School, Oliver, and St. Agatha.
