KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Portland Pilots men's soccer head coach Nick Carlin-Voigt was inducted into the Kalamazoo College Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 15 for his stellar soccer career and time as a member of the basketball team.
Carlin-Voigt was a four-year starter with the Hornets as a goalkeeper from 2000 to 2003. He was a team captain for two years and helped lead Kalamazoo to three MIAA championships. He earned All-MIAA First Team honors in 2003 and was a Third-Team All-American as well at the Division III level.
The Michigan native set several school records during his time with the Hornets. He set a season record for most shutouts in a season (9) and most saves in a season (92) back in 2001. He also holds the career records for both shutouts (25) and saves (292). He earned Senior Athlete of the Year as well in his final year at Kalamazoo. Carlin-Voigt graduated from Kalamazoo in 2004.
Carlin-Voigt has been head coach of the Pilots since the 2016 season. During his time on The Bluff, he has posted a 51-32-10 record overall and has led the Pilots to the postseason twice. The Pilots also won the WCC in his first season in Portland and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2018 after a historic win over the UCLA Bruins. The win marked the first playoff win for the Pilots since 2009 and the first home playoff win since 2002.
The Pilots are 6-5-0 on the season and are headed to Los Angeles, Calif. next for their ranked showdown against the Loyola Marymount Lions. The two teams will face off tomorrow at 7 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
