With a chance to go to the NCAA Tournament for the 17
th time in program history, the Portland Pilots men's soccer team will be hosting a NCAA Tournament Selection Show watch party tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the Pilot House.
The Pilots are in prime position to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. They finished the season 10-6-1 with several quality wins. They were 29
th in the RPI rankings last week and finished the season tied for third in the WCC.
Portland has four wins this year against teams who rank in the top 50 in RPI, which is the third-most among teams in the west (Pac-12, WCC, Big West and WAC). On the road, they took down both the UCLA Bruins (27
th) and the Loyola Marymount Lions (41
st). The Bruins have been ranked in the top 25 consistently throughout the season while the Lions were 15
th when the Pilots beat them. They also took down MAC Powerhouse Northern Illinois (39
th) 4-0 when the Huskies were ranked 15
th in the nation and the Seattle U Redhawks 3-2 in the Caffe D'arte Coffee Cup.
The last time the Pilots were in the NCAA Tournament was back in 2018, when the Pilots went 12-4-3 and hosted the UCLA Bruins for a home playoff matchup. The Pilots took that match 1-0, giving them their first playoff win since 2009 and their first home playoff victory since 2002. If they were to make it, it would mark the third time under current head coach Nick Carlin-Voigt that they've made the tournament. The Pilots have had five straight falls with a winning record under Carlin-Voigt.
Come out to support your Pilots and see where they land in the NCAA Tournament bracket!
