Togiai Goal Gives No. 18 Pilots 1-0 Win over Previously Unbeaten LMU

PORTLAND, Ore. -- In a battle of unbeaten teams the No. 18 Portland Pilots dealt the Loyola Marymount Lions a 1-0 loss on Saturday at Merlo Field at the Clive Charles Soccer Complex. Cally Togiai's first half goal stood up as the win improved Portland's record to 7-0-4 overall and 1-0-0 in West Coast Conference play. LMU falls to 2-1-6 and 0-1-0 in league action.

How it Happened

Portland scored the lone goal of the match when Cally Togiai recorded her third strike of the season in the 18th minute. The unassisted beauty came from the top of the box and curled inside the right post. The goal held as the only score in the game.

Game Notes

  • The Pilots remain unbeaten after 11 games, their longest such streak since 2005 when Portland won its first 14 games and finished as NCAA champions with a 23-0-2 record.
  • Togiai is now tied with Nedya Sawan for the team lead in points with nine.
  • Bre Norris recorded one save for the Pilots in earning her seventh shutout of the season.
  • Five of Portland's 10 total shots were on goal, while the Pilots allowed just three total shots, all in the first half.
