PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots are continuing their climb up the ranks of NCAA Division I soccer, coming in at sixth in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll. They are also fifth in the latest TopDrawerSoccer Top 25 poll.
This is their highest rankings in any two polls since the 1988 and 1989 seasons, when the Pilots ranked as high as third in the nation. In 1988, the Pilots made their first ever appearances in the NCAA College Cup, taking on the Indiana Hoosiers in the semifinals. In 1989, the Pilots made the playoffs and advanced to the second round.
The Pilots are undefeated through 11 games with an 8-0-3 record, coming in at 14th in the latest NCAA RPI rankings. This is their longest unbeaten streak since 2018, and they are one of just seven teams in NCAA Division I that are still undefeated. In 2018, they were ranked as high as seventh in the United Soccer Coaches Poll after starting 10-0-3 and were also as high as fifth in the Soccer America poll.
Statistically they lead the West Coast Conference in several categories, including goals (28), assists (31), points (87), goal differential (19), scoring offense (2.55), points per game (7.91) and assists per game (2.82). Nationally, they are seventh in assists per game, eighth in assists, ninth in points, 10th in goal differential and points per game and 13th in goals and scoring offense.
Portland will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m., taking on the Oregon State Beavers down in Corvallis. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
