PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Men's Soccer striker Jacob Babalai and Pilot Cross Country runner Laura Pellicoro have been named the U.S. Bank Student-Athletes of the Month for the month of November.
Babalai was clinical throughout the month, playing a crucial role in getting the Pilots through November undefeated. He posted nine points throughout the month with three goals and three assists. He was the leading scorer for the Pilots throughout the playoffs with two goals, including the game-winner in the second round against Oregon State. The win put Portland in the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2009.
Pellicoro was the only Pilot on both the men's and the women's side to qualify for the NCAA Championships. The WCC Co-Runner of the Year finished second overall at the NCAA West Regional early in November, the highest individual finish in program history. She followed that up by posting the third best finish in program history at the NCAA Championships at 25
th. Her finish earned her All-American honors.
