PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots men's soccer team has announced their spring schedule for 2022, which features marquee matchups against high-level pro teams and other quality opponents.
"We are really excited to play a very challenging spring schedule that will help prepare us for the rigors of our fall schedule," Portland head coach Nick Carlin-Voigt said. "We start our spring schedule with Minnesota United of MLS. It's always a great honor to play the top pro teams like Minnesota, who are in the MLS playoffs yearly. The next game is against Viking FK who are playing in Europa League next year. It is an exciting challenge for our group to play against a top Norwegian pro team and really test ourselves against European football."
After opening their schedule against two top-tier clubs, the Pilots will face off against Portland Timbers 2 before playing the Nike Elite squad. The Pilots will play in their annual alumni game before playing against the Oregon State Beavers home and away to finish things off.
"Playing the Portland Timbers 2 annually is also a great and exciting game," Carlin-Voigt said. "Before hosting our alumni game on campus and then finishing with a home and away against Oregon State this schedule will have our players and fans excited for a successful spring here on The Bluff focused on development."
The Pilots are coming off another stellar year of soccer. They finished the year 11-7 overall and tied for third in the WCC, making the playoffs for the third time under Carlin-Voigt. They beat the Seattle U Redhawks in the opening round before falling to the No. 3 Washington Huskies in the second round. For our full spring schedule, check below.
