PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland women's tennis team picked up a 6-1 home victory over the Montana State Bobcats Saturday afternoon at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center. The Pilots improve to 5-6 on the season, while the Bobcats fall to 5-12.
Portland cruised in doubles with a pair of 6-0 wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The dynamic duo of Rimona Rouf and Sally Pethybridge moved into the top position and won their seventh straight dual match and improve to 9-1 this Spring. Iva Zelic and Angela Schuster teamed up for the first time at the No. 2 position and cruised.
Zelic continued her dominant singles run with a 6-3, 7-5 win against Marta Garcia-Reboredo for her ninth straight victory at the No. 1 position. Pethybridge defeated Mirte van Baelen 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and then Rouf clinched the team victory with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4 against Maria Villarejo.
Portland also picked up wins at No. 5 singles from Aleksandra Dimitrijevic and No. 6 singles from Marija Elenova to conclude the scoring.
The Pilots will now shift their focus to West Coast Conference play which begins with a pair of home matches against San Diego and BYU on March 25 and March 26, respectively. All Pilot home matches will have live video and scoring links available at
