PORTLAND, Ore. – A good contingent of Portland track and field runners competed Saturday at the Portland Distance Carnival hosted at Lewis and Clark's Griswold Stadium. Ten runners established new personal bests, while Veerle Bakker (1,500m) and Tara Fuiten (400m) won their respective races in meet record time.
Bakker continued to rise on the Pilot Top 10 list by besting her previous 1,500m time by nearly two seconds. She crossed the line at 4:19.56 for the fifth best time in program history. Fuiten recorded a time of 58:84 in the 400m to win the meet in record fashion.
Other highlights included Ella Parker's 12.76 PR in the 100m and Aiden Fitzgerald clocking a 51.22 PR in the 400m. Chris Morzenti placed second in the 800m with a PR of 1:51.92 and Jona Bodirsky also finished second in the 5,000m of 14:12.56. John Kavulich and Chris Anderson also recorded 5K PR's.
Below are the complete results for Portland runners. The Pilots will now prepare for the NCAA West Preliminary, hosted at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Ark. May 25-28.
