Pacific fought back to tie the game at 20-20 before Portland went on an 18-0 run starting at the 8:50 mark in the second period to take a 38-20 lead. The Pilots proceeded to tack on three points to that lead and enjoyed a 48-27 advantage heading into halftime. Portland was strong from deep in the period, knocking down six three-point shots to account for 18 of its 28 points.
Portland preserved its halftime and enjoyed a 5-0 run to expand its lead further to 65-40 with 2:32 to go in the third. Before the conclusion of the third period, the Tigers had cut into that lead somewhat, but the Pilots still entered the fourth quarter with a 66-47 edge.
