PORTLAND, Ore -- The Portland Pilots scored 47 points off of turnovers on their way to an 86-49 win over the Warner Pacific Knights at home Thursday.
The Pilots (3-1) had three players score in double figures, led by Dyani Ananiev, who had 20 points for the second straight game along with four steals and two blocks. Emme Shearer tacked on 16 points and seven steals and Florence Dallow helped out with 14 points and two steals from the bench. Maisie Burnham also reached 1,000 points for her career as well.
Portland grabbed 43 rebounds in Thursday's game compared to Warner Pacific's 28, led by 10 boards from Natalie Fraley off the bench. It's the highest rebound total a Pilot has achieved this year. The Pilots also put in work on the offensive glass, turning 20 rebounds into 19 second chance points.
The Portland defense held Warner Pacific shooters to just 37.3 percent from the field and forced 38 turnovers with 28 steals. It's the most turnovers they've forced since the last time they played Warner Pacific and the most steals they've had since 2020 when they had 30 against Northwest College.
How It Happened
After jumping out to an 11-7 advantage, Portland went on a 13-0 run with 5:46 left in the first quarter to increase its lead to 24-7. The Pilots then lost some of that lead, but still entered the quarter break with a 27-16 advantage. Portland did most of its first quarter damage in the paint, scoring 16 of its 27 points close to the basket.
Portland kept its first quarter lead intact before going on an 11-0 run starting at the 8:51 mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Dallow, to increase its lead to 38-16. The Pilots kept that lead for the remainder of the period and enjoyed a 47-25 advantage heading into halftime. Portland dominated in the paint again, scoring 14 of its 20 points close to the basket.
Portland continued to preserve its halftime lead before going on a 12-0 run to expand its lead further to 61-27 with 6:10 to go in the third. Before the third period was over, the Pilots added three points to that lead and entered the fourth quarter with a 75-38 edge. The Pilots cruised the rest of the way to an 86-49 victory.

» The Pilots got seven steals from Emme Shearer and five more from Maisie Burnham. Both are career-highs, with Emme's total being the most for a Pilot since Maddie Mulheim in 2021.
» Portland had a 43-28 edge on the boards in the win.
» The Pilots were active in affecting shots on the defensive end, recording six blocks as a team. Ananiev had a team-high two blocks.
» Portland cleaned up on the offensive glass, collecting 20 offensive boards in the game.
» Portland got a game-high 10 rebounds from Natalie Fraley, the most by a Pilot this season and the first double-digit rebound game for a Pilot.
» Maisie Burnham became the 31st Pilot to eclipse 1,000 points for her career.
