PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland men's basketball team got a 47-point performance from the bench on the way to a 107-84 win over the Willamette Bearcats at home Saturday.
The Pilots (4-2) had four players score in double figures, led by Alimamy Koroma, who had 23 points. Tyler Robertson added 17 points and six assists and Chris Austin helped out with 16 points.
The Portland offense was very productive from downtown, knocking down 16 threes on 36 attempts. Robertson was the most prolific shooter for the Pilots, draining three treys in the contest.
How It Happened
After falling behind 14-10, Portland went on an 8-0 run with 14:33 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Koroma, to take an 18-14 lead. The Pilots then added eight points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 52-40 advantage. Portland relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down seven shots to account for 21 of its 52 points.
Portland kept its lead intact before going on a 10-0 run, finished off by Tyler Harris' jumper, to grow the lead to 68-47 with 17:07 to go in the contest. The Pilots kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 107-84 win. Portland shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting nine shots from deep to score 27 of its 55 points.
