PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Pilots put up their biggest win in program history over a Pac-12 program with their 91-60 win over the Oregon Ducks. It's their first win over a Pac-12 opponent since 2013 and their first over Oregon since 2012.
The Pilots (4-4) had six players score in double figures, led by Maisie Burnham, who had 15 points. Dyani Ananiev added 15 points and three blocks off the bench and Kennedy Dickie chipped in as well with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Lucy Cochrane put together one of the strongest all-around performances of the year, posting 10 points with nine rebounds, seven assists and five blocks. Her five blocks were enough to move her to third all-time in program history in career blocks, second among Pilots who only played Division I.
The Portland offense was very productive from beyond the arc, knocking down 11 3-pointers on 27 attempts. Burnham was the most prolific shooter for the Pilots, draining three treys in the contest.
Portland did a great job disrupting Oregon shots in the contest, coming away with nine blocks. Lucy Cochrane's five rejections led the way individually for the Pilots.
How It Happened
After conceding the first basket, Portland went on a 13-0 run with 8:40 left in the first quarter, culminating in a 3-pointer from Ananiev, to take a 13-2 lead. The Pilots entered the quarter break with a 20-10 advantage.
Portland built that first quarter lead to 30-18 before going on an incredible 16-0 run starting at the 4:54 mark in the second period, ending with a steal and score from Emme Shearer, to increase its lead to 46-18 at the half. Portland forced seven Oregon turnovers in the period and turned them into nine points.
The Pilots continued to preserve their halftime lead before going on an 8-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Lainey Spear, to expand its lead further to 63-27 with 5:05 to go in the third. Before the conclusion of the third period, the Ducks had cut into that lead somewhat, but the Pilots still entered the fourth quarter with a 67-38 edge. Portland knocked down three 3-pointers in the quarter to score nine of its 21 total points.
Portland kept its lead intact before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Florence Dallow's layup, to grow the lead to 89-56 with 1:03 to go in the contest. The Pilots cruised the rest of the way for the 91-60 win.
